Three years in war and Russia, Ukrainians continue to live in Manitoba – Winnipeg

Since leaving Ukraine in August 2022, Mila Shykota built a new life in Winnipeg.

Her daughter is at school. He and his partner buy a house. He even walked to Kyiv last year to visit the family and bring his beloved cat home home to Canada.

“I can say that I am together in Canada, but I remember my country and worry about it,” she said.

“I read the news feed daily, and I communicate with my mom and my relatives.”

Shykota is one of the 298,128 Ukrainers who came to Canada through the Authority of Canada – A Cuet), a Corporate System in March 2022 following Russia in Ukraine.
