Writing: Ted Carter, Ohio State University president, “dealt with the Nation and Margaret Brennan,” 20 27, 2025

The following written Nettarter chat, President of Ohio State University, is found in “the nation and Margaret Brennan” on July 27, 2025.
Margaret Brennan: Now we go to Columbus, Ohio and President of Ohio State University, Ted Carter. President Carter, welcome to ‘face the nation.’
Ohio State University President President Carter: Margaret, good to have you this week from Columbus, Ohio.
Margaret Brennan: I wanted to ask you directly about these Trump Administration decisions that Ohio State is one of 60 universities that are considered antisemitic acts and campus policies. They say that he is investigated and failed to eliminate diversity policies, which may be violations of the laws of the civil law. What is the situation of problems? And how much pressure are you?
Carter: To be Frank, I don’t feel very stressed. Our understanding is in this list because we once started on the list under bidding. We worked with the Human Rights Office during this government, and I think that it was clothing. We are very happy to talk to anyone in human rights office. We stand behind our actions. We know how to do during the protests. We have never been a camp here at Ohio State. We have helped others not allow that, and those our long laws on Oval borders, which is the center of our campus. So I’m sure that as this is the best, we will be fine.
Margaret Brennan: Trump administrators published Ohio State in the University list, and when you look at some of the issues that have increased, 1 billion, hundreds of millions of Rornell, the dollars of a brown-like money. You are worried that your organization’s money may be threatened for this?
Carter: Like I always say to my people and my people, if we do the right things for the right reasons, everything will be played. And we have always been doing that way as I have been here from one. January of 2024. Our research support here in Ohio State has released the Ehio State and the boundaries over the past few years. It is actually calculated by number 11 in the country, before Harvard, before Ex Chapel Hill. Our money wakes up last year was $ 1.6 billion, 775 million of those from the universe, especially in Neh and Asf. As we live here today, we have some research benefits, but tens of millions of dollars, nothing is like that appears to the Ivy League colleagues, and much is still on temptation. So I can’t even tell you what the dollars we can discard, but against $ 1.6 billion is small, even though it had some effect on some of our researchers. Unlike our other Conferictures, we have an important responsibility for research here, 14,000 genius, DOC Doc students, researching them here. And it is important. Moves beyond numbers and dollars. That is what is done in the community, what it does to extend and keep and change lives, and what our strength do. So what I can tell, at present today – or compared to our last year, we are still there in our worldwide research costs so that we can become free cancer so we can become free cancer.
Margaret Brennan: Well, we all hope to the tomorrow, sir, but they feel that he doesn’t worry. But I learned that in the previous White House football team before the year – and that was well covered, Wall Street Journal said President Trump and Deputy President of the Vance-Presidentday, Ohio State is not the enemy. Why do you feel that you should say that? What do you mean?
Carter: That may have been taken a little without context. I say that with a jest, a little in the president of the pin when I got the opportunity to meet him, and we had a long discussion. It was a very productive conversation. I will not come into all the details, but the point, they know that Ohio State does the right things for the right reasons. I said in public that I believe that higher education will surpass the future of public society such as Ohio State University, even if our state government, whatever comes from our state government here in Ohio. But now, I feel that we are still able to play self-defense, and we can understand how to correct our bat, but we are able to play a plate, but also look how we can play trial. This is the time when institutions such as Ohio State, is financially secure. We are actually we want to invest in us. I just think about the graduation event that we just had the past. It produces about 18,000 graduates annually. But in that festival, we got 12,400- and all, in the way, we received their diploma that day they found. And 90% of those students – 90% have already been a job or attending another higher education effort. And 70% of those students work under the trunks who live in the Province of Ohio. 66% of the PhD and kings live in the Province of Ohio. This is a good staff development plan. That is what raises the confidence of Ohiounians and the United States in higher education, and that begins to change.
Margaret Brennan: Deputy President of WEVEANCE was in this program many times – and one of them was still in Senator. I spoke to him about his ideas in higher education. He is Alio State Alum, undergrad, and he said that he believed universities – he was not talking about yours, but not the basics of the left wing, ‘and will be directed wrongly. Do you think you have a point?
Carter: I think higher education has begun to form that name. And you can even see that in Gallup-Lumina voting. He knows, I was a naval academy man since 2014 to 2019 aware, and that the Gallup Poll in 2015 said about 60% of Americans are very confident in the above education. Now continue and move the peacock nine years forward, and yet, two of the three Americans said they did not trust in the higher education. That is a bad sign. Americans claimed that higher education is expensive. They meant that the refund was difficult to prove. They even said that some of the researchers may not be infectious or their families. And of course, there was this discussion about the unlawful composition, or the institutions were very dependent on freedom. You know, we as higher education management maybe we should listen to the American community and say, perhaps they don’t always get it right. So I’m here to say, here in Ohio State University, pay attention to that. We make efforts to make accessibility for a large student problem. I said that graduated class, 57% of those who work under the remaining credit bills. Zero debts. And one of the 43% left of credit was less than $ 24,000. And as we look across our employment habits, I have 8,500 skills. It is the best tactic group I have ever worked with my 12 years leading up and that means a bit. I will tell you that as we hire the future, we look at all our political benefits.
Margaret Brennan: On that point, you have talked about what happened at the state level. The Republic of the Republic to Removalan but also require the professors to send their syringes in the course- isyllabi online and their contact details. Do you think this is meant to frighten? Do you care? Is your intelligence worried about focusing on what they do?
Carter: Yes, I’ve talked to our faculty for our goodness and our leadership. There is something concern, that’s true, because we don’t do that before. We have time before we use that. We have set all pieces of the Senate Bill 1 which is the General Sound Selll Bill here in the Ohio region, in the Step Phase. We are still working more details, but let me tell you the principles of the liberation of the lessons, teaching in the classroom, the research we do here in Ohio State, and you know that we will continue work. We will still follow the policies of the outgoing organization. Ready and prepare to do all that.
Margaret Brennan: In that point, see which Columbia University do this week to pay for $ 200 fine to address their issue with school guarantee. Does this previous worry about? I mean – can you take such a deal?
Carter: I can’t talk to those institutions because I don’t lead them. I know both President Sikambamobi and Ivy League’s presidents, and they have to think that I can call the survival mode. Truly, we don’t go away any of these here in Ohio State, and I don’t think we’ll do it. I mean, it is clear that we have a new state law. It is a government institution, therefore it means that we will be clear and let us all do so Ohio’s condition, people and the world to see.
Margaret Brennan: We will check what is going on. Good luck, sir. We will go back.
